A woman may come in, for example, and say, “I have been caring for my husband at home and I feel like I can’t do it any more. What sort of options do I have and how am I going to pay for it?”
Or a man may come in and say, “My wife had a stroke and was in the hospital. She was discharged to a nursing home. The nursing home says she will have Medicare coverage for another couple of weeks and then it’s going to cost $6,500 a month. What can I do?”
Sometimes it’s “My dad is doing pretty well right now, but we’re sort of worried about the future. We’re thinking that down the road he might need more care than we can provide and somebody said we should see a lawyer.”
These are all typical Elder Law questions we can assist with.
