What does a guardian do - Portland, Oregon.
April 22, 2010
A guardian manages an incapacitated person’s physical personal needs and health care.
A guardian makes decisions about issues such as where the person should live and also makes sure he or she has proper nutrition and medical care.
For example, a person may need some kind of special care or hospitalization. He or she may be living in squalor and not taking eating a healthy diet or tending to personal hygiene. A guardian has the authority to move that person out of his or her home to a safer environment, such as an assisted-living facility or foster care.
A guardian is required to file a report with the court each year.
